The Call of the Wild

Yesterday’s Phenology: A bit of a front moved through. Or something. Anyway it started raining in the early morning and rained most of the day. A good soaking.

Song of the day: Los Lobos, Will the Wolf Survive

springtime and blackbird

Yesterday’s Phenology: A bit warmer today, and maybe a bit sunnier? Was this the second longest day of the year? 15 hours and 37 minutes of daylight, according to the US Navy Observatory. Very nice. Much appreciated, after those long cold winter nights. But, of course, we’ve turned the corner now…

Song of the day: War, Slippin’ Into Darkness

Yesterday’s Phenology: Another Pretty Darn Nice Day (PDND). 70s? check, cloudy? check. cool nights? check. Perfect dog walking weather.

Yesterday’s Phenology: Another beautiful summer day, with clouds, low humidity, temp in the 70s. A perfect day for not working, or what you will.

Song of the day: Mungo Jerry, In the Summertime

monday morning black-bird

Yesterday’s Phenology: A tad on the breeeeezy side, but let’s not quibble. Lots of clouds, and temps in the 70s, after a night with occasional rain. Almost perfect out there today, except for those biking into the wind.

Song of the day: Paul Simon, I Know what I Know

Yesterday’s Phenology: A fairly perfect day; sunnyish in the morning, clouded over in the afternoon, rained in the evening. Nottalotta wind, maybe got into the 80s.

Song of the day: War, Four Cornered Room

a little on the rainy side

Yesterday’s Phenology: Another day in the mid 80s, mostly overcast, a little muggy. Stopped by the redwinged blackbird nesting area before work, and there was quite a lot of activity. Young birds testing their wings? Also happened upon a Pileated Woodpecker, a nice surprise.
