Yesterday’s Phenology: We are suddenly getting some very March-like weather. Rather unexpected. Sunny day today, but the temp stayed in the low 30s. The snow is melting slowly. The crows seem querulous. Always bickering about something or other. Sidewalks still have some snowy patches (those neighbors who have given up on shoveling for the winter) and some icy patches, where they’ve been shoveled. All that’s missing, really, is about 15 or so inches of old snow. Then it would really be like March.

Yesterday’s Phenology: Well, I don’t have much to tell, being stuck in my cube all day. No frost on the windshield in the morning. Seemed sunny out, from what I could tell. I oughta get out more, I guess. The days are lengthening out nicely, I should make mention of that, how nice it is to drive to work in the early dawn light, and come home and it’s still light out. Makes a big difference. Well, makes a bit of difference.

Song of the Day: Andrei Krylov, Black Crow
Yesterday’s Phenology: Cold. Mostly due to the wind. Sunny bright. Got up into the low 20s today, but the wind brought it down by about 10 or so.
Song of the Day: The Shangri-Las, Remember (Walking in the Sand)
Yesterday’s Phenology: Not a bad day for mid-January in Minnesota. The temperature crept up to lower 20s, the sun was out, and there was a bit of melting in the streets. We’ll take it.
Song of the day: Anouar Brahem, The Astounding Eyes of Rita
Yesterday’s Phenology: Another gray flannel day in Minneapolis. Temperature hovered around 32 for most of the day, and it sort of drizzle-fogged in the afternoon. A little bit colder and it will be a bit icy out there. Saw a blue jay in our back yard birch tree today. Don’t see much of them around here. It’s said that they prefer oak trees and we are a few blocks away from the scattered oaks nearer the Mississippi. Perhaps our feeder food is not to their liking. Oh well.
Song of the day: Local Hero, Victor’s Song
Today’s Phenology: Temps skyrocketed to 37 today. People were out in shorts, washing their cars, talking about what a hard winter it was. A bright sunny day. Wildlife is scarce. At least, in my little gray cubicle.
Song of the Day: Sun Ra and his Arkestra, Pink Elephants on Parade
