the bicycle bugs are out…

Yesterday’s Phenology: This has been a pretty nice spring! This morning, in the 40s. Maybe it got up into the 50s today. Rained a lot in the morning, cloudy afternoon, and then more rain and a bit of thunder in the evening. Big buds are opening up everywhere.

morning flight

Yesterday’s Phenology: Another nice rainy day, until the afternoon, when it stopped raining, and then the sun peeked out a bit. Nice to get the rain. Noticed a ruckus up in the trees as I walked Flynn in the late afternoon, birds, excited, and then a hawk flew out of a spruce and away.

Yesterday’s Phenology: Unseemingly sunny and cheery out side. Temps in the upper 50s. Razorback pigs are shedding their winter coats, boots, and mittens as they root around in the alleys, looking for the early spring truffles, or whatever else they can find. Their melodious grunting and snuffling reminds us all that it’s springtime in the heartland and that we should ought to be enjoying it.

morning commute

Yesterday’s Phenology: Mostly a perfect day, temp in the 60s, sunny, beautiful. Only problem was the gusty wind coming out of the west, during my bike ride in particular. Still great time of year for birdwatching, though that won’t last much longer, as things are greening up. Saw a pair of kingfishers at the dogpark this morning. Heard a lot of cardinals and flickers, but saw nary a flicker, not a one.

Yesterday’s Phenology: Spring continues to spring forth. Rained all night, and rained gently much of the morning. Cleared up briefly in mid afternoon, then, late afternoon thunderstorm and more rain. Big buds on the dogwood, and grass is greened up. Cardinals calling, robins singing. Spring.

ta-da!

Yesterday’s Phenology: A very pleasant spring day, partly sunny, perhaps in the upper 50s? Until early evening, when the rain arrived, also very pleasant.

Yesterday’s Phenology: Another good day, overcast and cool. Maybe a few sprinkles in the evening, maybe a little sunshine. Seagulls wheeling in the sky, making a racket. May have been Parking Lot Gulls, actually.
