Red-winged blackbird, looking skeptical
Yesterday’s Phenology: Bright and painfully sunny initially, then a bunch of big clouds moved in, then overcast, then partly sunny. Thought it might rain at some point, but, disappointment, no. Temp in the mid 70s, though warmer in the car. Saw a lot of bald eagles as we drove down river to Maiden Rock, over the river and over the Wisconsin bluffs, and a few herons, and a red-tailed hawk, possibly. Good day for flying, I guess.

yet another red-winged black bird…
Yesterday’s Phenology: Fifty-one degrees when I got up; not your usual late June weather in this part of Minnesota. And it was a cool and partly cloudy day, in the low 70s. Saw quite a few dogs out walking their people this evening, after dinner.

Bird o’ the Day (warbler? redstart?)
Yesterday’s Phenology: In the upper 50s at the beginning of the day, and probably didn’t crack the 70s. A few little passing thundershowers, but the day was mostly just cool and breezy and cloudy. Lot’s o’ wee bunnies hoppin’ about, enjoying the north-shore weather.

springtime and blackbird
Yesterday’s Phenology: A bit warmer today, and maybe a bit sunnier? Was this the second longest day of the year? 15 hours and 37 minutes of daylight, according to the US Navy Observatory. Very nice. Much appreciated, after those long cold winter nights. But, of course, we’ve turned the corner now…

monday morning black-bird
Yesterday’s Phenology: A tad on the breeeeezy side, but let’s not quibble. Lots of clouds, and temps in the 70s, after a night with occasional rain. Almost perfect out there today, except for those biking into the wind.
Song of the day: Paul Simon, I Know what I Know
early morning blackbird
Yesterday’s Phenology: More sun, more warm. Late afternoon clouds. Lots of little branches littering the ground because of the storms and the wind. No rain tonight, though.

off they go…
Yesterday’s Phenology: a warmish morning, followed by gathering clouds in the afternoon, followed by thunderstorm, followed by cool damp evening. Nice! My phenology reports are seriously hampered by being locked in the office all day. (okay, I’m not actually locked in all day.) However I did note little tiny baby raspberries on the raspberry bushes today.
